Section 2 – Key components and linkages in an agricultural system

The Tradeoff Analysis System is based on the characterization of an agricultural system as a complex system. According to this approach, an agricultural system is composed of interacting physical, biological and human systems that vary over space and time. In this section, the breakout groups will identify key components of an agricultural system and how they interact. Then we will discuss how an agricultural system is represented in the Tradeoff Analysis model.

Exercise 2.  Identifying key components and linkages in an agricultural system model

In this exercise we will sit down in the same multi-disciplinary groups of 4-6 people. The task for each group is to identify the key components of the system they are planning to model using TOA, and draw a system diagram showing the linkages between the key components of the system.
